On PBS tonight:
After seven seasons, DI Lynley and his partner DS Barbara Havers investigate their last murder case together in "Know Thine Enemy".
Ive always enjoyed the series which was based on Elizabeth George's Inspector Lynley series of books. It's no secret that I absolutely love British police dramas. Great stuff.

Meh
Jay and I were at one of the Loop platforms waiting to get on the train to Hipsterville for Chinese food yesterday when I saw a phenomenon which drives me up the wall and just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. It's the phenomenon known as "douche-baggery". Now, douche-baggery comes in many shapes and forms but the one I absolutely detest is when guys flip up the collars on their polo shirts, which isn't that big a deal in itself but when combined with greasy spiky hair, a tan and "bling", they have just qualified themselves to be called douche-bags. Like, what the fuck is that? Firstly, that whole popping-the-collar-on-your-polo shit is sooooo early 2000's and secondly, if you need half a tub of Brylcreem to spike up a half inch of hair, then dude, you really are a douche-bag. Case in point:
I don't normally like to criticize members of my beloved Manchester United, but I have never liked Cristiano Ronaldo (aka Euro-Greasy, as he is fondly known as in TMZ circles) ever since the whole bawling like a spoiled brat episode at the World Cup, but also his flashiness disturbs me. Those of you who don't follow European football, just take my word for it.
And this shit right here? Unacceptable. The popped collars and the poses just scream douche-bags!!

The Genius Of Eugenio Recuenco
"My worst photographs are the result of having felt satisfied too early. Eventually you discover your vanity arrived too early and 'fucked' your work."
-Eugenio RecuencoI've been a big fan of Recuenco for a while now. His photos are stunning, simple as that. I discovered him on Foto Decadent which is itself a brilliant site (great, great fashion photography). His website is chock-full of genius work for various clients ranging from Lavazza to GQ. The photos below are from his website, as usual click on them to enlarge.
PS. I'm stuck on "indent" and "center" on this whole post since I can't for the life of me figure out how to put the text part back to normal...I suck!!

Another Friggin' Art Show...

Last night Jay and I went out in support of one of his art buddies who had a solo show at Rotofugi, Chicago's premier seller of designer toys. The first time I saw Joey D.'s artwork was on the wall of the You Are Beautiful Project on State Street. I kinda dig the colors and the kooky subject matter, and the intricacies of the multi-layered wood cutouts of some of the pieces. Alas, prices for his artwork range from about $250 to about $1600 (eek!!) so no hope of snatching one there. We did have a great time looking at the pieces though and met up with our friend Natasha who was recovering from an awful allergy to her pet. Warm summer night, free Red Bulls from the Red Bull mobile, hanging out on the sidewalk talking. Good shit.
(As usual, click on photo to enlarge, I would recommend it actually, for deets).
Some of the pieces on view:

Bush Loves Kitties
Oh dear, I apologize for the long absence, it's just that work has been kicking my ass a lot lately!!! Having just ONE day off from work per week is not fun. Especially when all I want to do is go to Argo, find a quiet corner, order a chai and read...but alas, there are errands to be run, laundry to be laundered, things to do!!! I promise to post more as soon as the workload lightens (in about 3 weeks), but for now I leave you with ol' Georgie and a kitty....enjoy!!
